Pokemon Go Kanto Tour: What to Expect?

 


Its already been five years since the game that took people by storm was launched, Pokemon Go, and it happens to be the 25th anniversary of the pokemon franchise too! to commemorate this Pokemon Go is hosting an event to take its players back to where it all began, Kanto.

Date: 20 February 2021
Time: 9 am to 9pm (local time)

Pokemon Go is allowing trainers all around thee world to select between two tickets viz. Red and Green, similar to the original game. where each version will have its own version specific Pokemon that players will be able to encounter.

All Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will appear in the wild, in raids and in Research Task encounters; they will also be attracted to Incense and obtainable via Evolution.

Players who collect the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will earn rewards that are not yet revealed; Players will have to complete this task in one day, in order to do this, it will be necessary to trade with other trainers. Players will be able to track their progress in the Today View, it will be similar to something we have already seen in the form of collection challenges.

For the first time ever, all the 150 Pokemon from the Kanto region will be available with thiershiny variants, although the chances of players encountering a specific type depend on the version of game they choose.

Exclusive Pokémon for the Red version are Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther and Electabuzz, which will be attracted to Incense. Players who choose this version will have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Ekans, Pikachu, female Nidoran, Oddish, Diglett, Mankey, Growlithe, Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Krabby, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Scyther, Electabuzz, Eevee, Kabuto and Dratini.

Exclusive Pokémon for the Green version are Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar and Pinsir, which will be attracted to Incense. Players who choose this version will have an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Pikachu, Sandshrew, male Nidoran, Vulpix, Meowth, Psyduck, Bellsprout, Geodude, Exeggcute, Hitmonchan, Koffing, Tangela, Horsea, Magmar, Pinsir, Eevee, Omanyte and Dratini.

There will also be an event-exclusive Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research story, which players can complete to earn an encounter with a special Pokemon. Once players complete the first Special Research line, they will be able to access the second event-exclusive Special Research story, meant to be completed over a long period of time, which will result in a Shiny Mew.

Lastly, tickets for the event can be bought by players through the pokemon go app, under the shop section for $11.99 USD.

What to expect if you dont purchase the Kanto Tour Tickets?

Couldnt buy the tickets for the event? fret not, theres something in store for everyone! Kanto Pokemon will appear in the wild and in raids. The legendary Bird trio, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres along with Mewtwo will be returning to legendary tier 5 raids along with thier specific move if caught during the event.

Articuno will know Hurricane, Zapdos will know Thunder Shock, Moltres will know Sky Attack and Mewtwo will know Psystrike.
